Harvest Miracle Church - Kenya, 2008. The Harvest Miracle Church in Kisumu, Kenya opened their doors to hundreds of community members fleeing their homes in the middle of the night after post-election violence broke out and ran rampant all over the country. Luckily the angry mob, composed of people who had been friends and neighbors, were willing to respect the sanctity of the church property and agreed to disburse at the request of the Pastor. Now Internally Displaced Persons, or IDPs, of predominantly Kikuyu descent, were forced to remain at the church for several months as most of their homes and businesses were destroyed. The International Medical Corps set up clinics at several of the makeshift shelters in the area and were treating residents for their ailments and trauma.
